To develop best practices in corporate culture inspired by Silicon Valley while making Scality a company with a singular, international culture that radiates to all, including customers and investors.

« Claire joined Scality at a time of hyper growth: in just 3 years we grew from 45 to 200! She was instrumental in designing and putting in place a set of core HR principles and policies based on core values and a culture of feed-back. She had to start everything from scratch, and what is amazing is to observe that 5 years later we are still managing the company by what she put in place. The result is a top quartile score in employee engagement today and an awesome employer brand. As we are continue to grow 30% a year, Claire’s foundation is very solid and continue to carry us to the future.»

Jerome Lecat – CEO Scality depuis 2007

“Claire is a people person, great listener, a very creative professional and focused on impact. During Scality’s growth phase it felt like every cylinder of the company engine was pushed to its limits. Investing in our PeopleOps function was both necessary and a challenge. We needed a “Culture Captain” who would get to know everyone in the company, contribute in the leadership room and get projects done autonomously. After a few months and her research project in Silicon Valley, it felt like Claire was part of the family. We have created multiple programs and tools for our teams which I am still referring to today. Everyone who worked at Scality during these years remembers several of these initiatives. On a personal basis I know that I can always count on Claire’s candid and constructive feedback »

Scality provides customers such as Orange and SFR, Dailymotion, TF1 or RTL, who serve 300 million users worldwide, with software that enables them to build particularly reliable and high-performance storage solutions at lower costs.
Between 2015 and 2018 it grew from 78 to 220 people, with 23 nationalities, 8 offices, raised $92M and remained in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for 4 consecutive years.
The challenges of growth consisted for the leaders (Jérôme Lecat CEO and Erwan Menard COO) in building a strong, perennial and embodied culture, developing transparency, commitment, hiring exceptional talent on all continents, while maintaining the initial “frugal and generous” values and spirit of the start-up as it became more professional and grew.
Following a study conducted in Silicon Valley with pioneering companies in terms of corporate culture (Google, LinkedIn, FaceBook, Zappos, Pure & Nimble, Cumulus Network, or VCs such as Menlo Ventures), and a diagnosis based on interviews with all of Scality’s employees, a corporate culture development mission was set up, inspired by best practices, and tailored to the French-American start-up.

This will be followed by the development and execution of numerous actions on an international level, such as :

  • • Setting up a vision and a moonshot, a motto and founding values
  • • The implementation of a highly effective recruitment and on-boarding process to get 170 talents recruited around the world up to speed
  • • The development of bi-annual engagement surveys and tailored action plans to respond to employee suggestions,
  • • The strategy of having a continuous feedback culture,
  • • The creation of internal and external events such as Scality Rocks,
  • • Experimenting with an OKRs management style,,
  • • The deployment of specific programs for employee development (Training Program, International Mobility Program, Career Track, Wellness Program, Office Design, etc.)

All these initiatives have enabled Scality to become a scale-up that is recognized by all its stakeholders (customers, suppliers, investors, employees, candidates) as a company driven by a brilliant, founding and unifying culture.
